LAG Poker Style (Loose Aggressive)
The LAG (Loose Aggressive) style is creative, high- pressure and hard to play against. LAG players enter more pots than TAGs and use aggression to make opponents uncomfortable, forcing difficult decisions with marginal hands.
How LAGs play preflop
LAG players open wider ranges, especially from late position. They defend their blinds frequently and are willing to 3-bet light in good spots. Their goal is to play more hands in position and leverage postflop skill.
How LAGs play postflop
Postflop, LAGs continuation bet and barrel aggressively, especially on boards that are good for their perceived range. They apply pressure in position, attack capped ranges and look for profitable bluff spots with equity or good blockers.
Risks of the LAG style
The main danger of playing LAG is overdoing it: entering too many pots with trash, bluffing in hopeless spots and ignoring table dynamics. A poorly disciplined LAG quickly turns into a maniac.
How to exploit LAGs
- Trap them with strong hands and let them bluff.
- Call down wider if they barrel too much on bad runouts.
- 4-bet for value if they are 3-betting excessively.
